2021 DBA Mentor Program

OVERVIEW

At DIGITAL BRAND ARCHITECTS, we recognize the importance of seeking out and providing opportunities for all talent — especially Black creators. That’s why in partnership with NOIRE MGMT., DBA has taken up the necessary challenge of leveling the playing field with our inaugural Mentor Program.

Launching in March 2021, the Mentor Program will distribute access and resources for a class of up to 10 Black influencers to grow their online businesses, preparing them for further development and management.

As a leader in the digital marketing, talent management and communications space, DBA and NOIRE MGMT. commit their executive leadership team and well-rounded roster of managers to the benefit of this highly important initiative.

To further validate the Mentor Program, we’ve invited key brand partners across digital and complementary platforms to also participate in activities — which will assist in creating a truly enriched experience for Mentees.

FAQS

Please see below for answers concerning the Mentor Program. If your question isn’t listed below, email pingme@thedigitalbrandarchitects.com.

Why is DBA partnering with NOIRE MGMT. at this time?

In March 2020, we made a public commitment to remain accountable and implement new practices that better serve the Black community. The inaugural Mentor Program is one of many steps taken since then towards fulfilling our promise and providing access to tangible resources.

Who’s eligible to apply?

Diverse talented content creators who identify as Black or African-American with a social media following of 25-90k followers. This includes diversity across platforms (i.e. IG, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and categories (beauty, fashion, home, lifestyle, food, fitness, health, etc.)

I’m not Black, can I apply/why can’t I apply?

While we understand there are a number of voices that continue to be silenced within our community, our goal with the inaugural Mentor Program resides in providing access and resources to those who have historically been underrepresented and under-compensated — starting with Black creatives. However, through this initiative in partnership with NOIRE MGMT., we hope to learn how we as agencies can better leverage our expertise and create more equitable opportunities for all talents as well, regardless of racial and ethnic identity.

How long is the program?

Application entries will be accepted until February 26 at 11:59pm EST. The 2021 Mentor Program kicks off virtually on March 15 and spans until May 7.

What will Mentees learn?

Influencers are constantly refining and fine tuning their brands to continuously build and expand their businesses. Given this, we’ve designed the Program’s core pillars to explore Content & Analytics, the Art of the Pitch, Rates & Negotiations, and Developing a Proof of Concept.

What should I prepare to apply?

All applicants are required to submit the following information for consideration:

– At least one (1) month’s report of the analytic data associated with your existing social media channels. Note: Must include engagement rate percentages. Sorry, only screenshots with your @handle in view will be accepted.

– Media Kit

– Interest Statement

How do I go about sourcing and taking screenshots of my monthly analytics?

All if not most creator accounts on social media equip influencers with the tools to track their performance metrics. Please see below for a list of helpful links, broken down by platform:

Who selects Mentees?

The 2021 Mentorship Program Selection Committee includes members of DBA’s leadership team as well as Program Partner Ernest James, Founder and CEO of NOIRE MGMT.

Will I become a DBA client after the Mentor Program?

The Mentor Program does not guarantee DBA nor NOIRE MGMT. representation. However, we are always looking for dynamic, creative talent to join our roster. Thus, personal assessments of individual Mentee talent will be taken into consideration during and after the program. Any suggestions for management will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

During the Mentor Program, will Mentees be pitched or presented with financial opportunities?

During the Mentor Program, we will provide opportunities for Mentee participants to pitch themselves to our brand partners as part of our brand-building working sessions.

As a Mentee, will I be able to connect with other Mentees in the Mentor Program?

Yes! We believe in the power of community and hope that Mentees connect and collaborate with one another both during and after Program activities conclude.

As a Mentee, can I request a specific or alternate DBA Mentor?

Each Mentor/Mentee pairing is based on an individual needs assessment. However, we will review requests for Mentors or alternate Mentor on a case-by-case basis to ensure overall Mentee success throughout the 7-week Program.

As DBA talent, how can I get involved in the Mentor Program?

Thank you for your interest in volunteering time towards this year’s programming slate. Please feel free to touch base with your manager, who can share more information on how to get involved.
